Business Day Luncheon Focuses on America's Growing National Debt

Business Day at the Legislature 2012 is scheduled for February 29, 2012 in Cheyenne. In its 20th year, Business Day provides Wyoming businesses an opportunity to visit the state Capital during the legislative session to meet with legislators and state leaders about important issues facing Wyoming’s business community. Business owners have the opportunity to weigh in on legislation begin considered, and share information on how it might affect the day to day operation of a business. Wyoming’s 40 active Chambers represent more than 10,000 of the Wyoming businesses that make the state’s economy strong and viable.

This year Wyoming Chamber Partnership, along with Business Day sponsors EnCana Oil and Gas, Rocky Mountain Power, Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, and the Wyoming Contractors Association, is proud to host a Business Day Luncheon with guest speakers from The Coalition for a Fiscally Sound America. Two notable speakers will provide a riveting presentation on the most critical public policy issue facing our nation today – America’s growing national debt. The Coalition was formed by a group of former members of Congress to give voice to the business community throughout the country, to their employees and associates, and to individuals everywhere who have a deep concern about resolving our nation’s fiscal issues. State legislators, government leaders, Chamber directors, and business owners will enjoy lunch at the Historic Plains Hotel during the presentation. The Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley will be available to provide guests transportation to and from the Capitol.
Cost for the luncheon is $25 and those interested in attending may register online at the Wyoming Chamber Partnership website - www.wyomingchambers.com - by choosing the Events Tab, then choosing the Business Day at the Legislature Luncheon link found under the Featured Events listing.

Wyoming Chamber Partnership (WCP) works to sustain the professional growth of chamber executives and to advocate for strengthening Wyoming’s business climate.

September 22nd, 2011:  The Business-Industry Political Action Committee (BIPAC) announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Wyoming Chamber Partnership, a statewide business organization, to deploy its national grassroots and employee political education program known as Wyoming Prosperity Project; www.wyomingprosperity.org.

The Wyoming Chamber Partnership has joined the growing number of leading business entities that recognize the Prosperity Project’s unique structure and tools making it the most effective method of communication to employees and associates on economic issues, public policy, and the elections process.

Prosperity Project (P2) gives employers the means to impact public policy by capitalizing on the relationship they have with their employees. Those employees view information that pertains to their jobs and prosperity as highly credible.  P2 utilizes web sites and other communications methods to share information about legislation, regulations, elected officials and voter involvement tools.  Its goal is to allow employees to engage in the political process and be informed about how public policy and political debates affect their job, their industry and the economy.

“The Wyoming Chamber Partnership believes that advocacy for business is one of our main responsibilities,” Julie Simon, President of the Wyoming Chamber Partnership and CEO of the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce, said.  “Working with BIPAC and Prosperity Project is an all-around WIN for our business partners, chambers, and the state of Wyoming.  This tool is an important part of the education process for any generation and we are proud to be a venue to push this out to employers.

BIPAC uses research-driven methods that are coupled with the latest technology and are guided by top level political analysis to develop communication programs that are unparalleled in the grassroots field. The success that the organization has enjoyed in reaching growing numbers of employers and employees throughout the nation is leading more state organizations to join the program each month.

Partnership with statewide business organizations is one of the key ingredients to Prosperity Project’s success. By working closely with experts at the state level, the program provides participants a full range of information that is most relevant to the constituency in each state.

The experience that comes with partnership with BIPAC and Prosperity Project helps employers and business organizations become more effective with their outreach and communications right away. Information shared with employees and associates through Prosperity Project is well-received by employees because it provides them valuable information, but respects their right to decide and choose when it comes to issues and elections.  Rather than telling people how to vote, it arms them with valid data to help them reach informed opinions of their own.

Cooperation with the Wyoming Chamber Partnership is evidence of BIPAC’s continuing success in growing the nation’s largest business grassroots network, now approaching 45 affiliated state and regional programs, and an estimated potential audience of more than 20 million individuals.
About WCP:  The Wyoming Chamber Partnership (WCP) supports a core set of principles that will be used to evaluate public policies, and their effect on general business, at the local, state and national level of legislative and regulatory making policy bodies.

Our principles are based on the tenant that business and its prosperity are the foundation of our country and that entrepreneurialism protects the American Dream. Capitalism and free enterprise are the bedrock of a secure economy. A strong nation, state and community exist through a strong military, tax policy that is not punitive or that picks winners and losers, an infrastructure – physical and socially – that meets the local community needs, an education system that allows personal advancement and achievement and the availability and access to health care.

About BIPAC:  BIPAC was founded in 1963 with the goal of electing pro-prosperity candidates to higher office. Enhancing member policy influence remains the BIPAC vision today. An independent, bipartisan organization, BIPAC is supported by several hundred of the nation’s leading businesses and trade associations.  BIPAC enables more effective business participation in the political process. It does not lobby. Instead, BIPAC offers a wide range of tools and strategies to help more than 4,000 businesses and associations reach their public policy goals.  BIPAC takes an integrated approach to political involvement, combining grassroots advocacy and PAC Resources, all directed by nationally-recognized political analysis.

Wyoming Chamber Partnership Embarks On New Projects with New Director

Cody, WY (12/6/11) - Wyoming Chamber Partnership (WCP) announced today that it has contracted with Kim Capron, owner of Capron Resources, to provide management services for its state-wide organization.   WCP is Wyoming’s coalition of Chambers of Commerce, and represents 30 + area chambers and their business members throughout the state.  The group focuses on education and development for Wyoming’s Chamber of Commerce executives, development of resources for Wyoming’s small businesses and advocacy for the 10,000 + businesses who belong to area chambers of commerce throughout Wyoming.

Acting as Executive Director for WCP, Capron will guide the organization through development and implementation of several key projects the organization’s Board of Directors identified in 2011.

First and foremost the WCP website, www.wyomingchambers.com, is under expansion and will feature a state-wide database of all businesses who maintain active membership with their local chamber of commerce organization.  The database will provide world-wide visitors a comprehensive listing of Wyoming’s business community, including contact information and direct links to Wyoming’s websites.  The database will also feature on-line job listings and “hot deals” links for members.  These features will serve to increase Wyoming’s business presence on the world-wide web, and WCP expects area chambers and their members to benefit from the additional exposure.

In addition, WCP is working in partnership with the University of Wyoming to deliver an exciting new training opportunity to Wyoming’s business community.  The training focuses on building an ethical work environment for every Wyoming business.  Based on the popular “Code of the West” movement, the training leads businesses through development and implementation of an individual code of ethics that management and employees can use to deal ethically with the day to day challenges that face Wyoming’s small businesses.  Attendees will also be given the tools necessary to develop a personal “Code” to live and work by.

Small business advocacy is a key focus for WCP, and a new on-line resource is currently available to Wyoming’s business owners to assist during the upcoming election cycle.  The Wyoming Prosperity Project, found on-line at www.bipac.net/wyoming, is designed to aid communication between employers and their employees about candidates, issues and elections in a non-partisan, pro-business way. The site will be updated regularly with the latest Wyoming and national information.  WCP will also be in Cheyenne during the upcoming 2012 legislative session to monitor legislation that affects Wyoming’s businesses, and to host Business Day at the Legislature - 2012 on February 29, 2012.

WCP is a membership organization and offers Wyoming businesses direct benefits including expanded on-line business listing, event sponsorship, and advertising opportunities.  Businesses interested in joining WCP, and to find out more about current projects can contact Capron on-line from the WCP website, www.wyomingchambers.com, via e-mail at info@wyomingchambers.com or by phone at (307) 250-1510.
